For some the world is not enough, same goes for certain car owners. To cater those happy few that can buy million dollar cars and turn them into something even more outrageous we have Gemballa. The tuner is situated in Leonberg Germany, that’s around 10km from Stuttgart where Porsche themselves are situated. Gemballa made some interesting conversions in the past but I wanted to show you the most extreme one, the Gemballa Mirage GT based on the Porsche Carerra GT.
The kit that Gemballa developed is pure esthetic except for the bigger exhaust and a ECU remap. But don’t think it’s just a piece of plastic they put on the car. The entire car with bodykit has seen extensive wind tunnel testing. The original Carrera GT is known as a true drivers car so when driving it you need all the concentration you need. Porsche made a great effort in building a true sportscar but Uwe Gemballa (the owner and name giver of the company) envisioned a car with more downforce. The bodykit is therefore sculpted and adjusted in the windtunnel to make sure it doesn’t only look pretty but actually works.
The car is available in all kinds of colors as long as the buyer has enough money. I thought this flat black one looked pretty intimidating. You can also see that the roof scoop goes all the way to the engine bay. Like I said in the intro, the car is only running an new exhaust but in the future Gemballa is planning to add a twin turbo so by then the engine needs all the cool air it can get.
The exhaust together with the ecu remap added an extra 68bhp to the already impressive 612bhp from the 5.7 liter V10. Some Porsche purist argue that this isn’t a real Porsche because of the engine. They say that a true Porsche should have a flat 6 and not a V10. I don’t really care what kind of engine it is running, but then again I’m not a real Porsche purist.
The wheels are specifically designed for this application they measure 19″x9.5 with a 265 tire in the front and 20″x12.5 with a incredible 335 tire in the back. Behind the front wheel we see a 380mm ceramic disc with six pistons.
In the interior we see a whole lot of carbon. The owner of the car can choose whatever he wants in his car, whether it be ostrich leather or the most expensive wood we can find.
The car costs a staggering 212.000 euro and then you still have to buy an original Porsche Carrera GT. Porsche have made 1300 of them and they are all sold out so you already need to own one or you will have to buy one second hand. Either way it is gonna cost you a lot of money.
