The first thing you see upon arrival to the SEMA show at the Las Vegas Convention Center is a rather large and diverse collection of customized, modified and competition cars. Today, I spent a bit of time wandering about with the NFS team’s trusty Canon digital SLR camera to give you a feel for the variety of machines on show.

I just love the juxtaposition between the different car tribes. In the foreground, you have a beautiful traditional custom 1939 Packard sedan, while in the background sits a mildly tuned VW GTi.

I’m not sure what exact style to call this Impala. Lowrider? Custom? Pro Touring? All of the above?

It was sitting on a set of dubs… looks like a pretty high budget build to me.

A bit further down the line is this stunning 1960 Ford Starliner. It’s done in a period perfect, early 1960’s custom style…

I am feeling the chrome steelies…

Tail-dragger… great detailing on the exhausts…

Look at the patterning on the paint, not to mention the fade work…amazing artistry.

Bumped into Tanner Foust so I thought I’d take a portrait shot. Good luck in Long Beach Tanner!

I’m not 100% familiar with the background on this S2000. Looks like a Time Attack car… note the painted-on headlights.

Are we to expect this car at the Superlap Battle next week?

A great example of a “Cartoon Rod“. Does this car even fit into a lane of traffic? Look how wide it is.

Perhaps this hot rod doesn’t get the best fuel mileage, Hahaha. Imagine the noise this car makes…it must scare small children.

Ok… so it isn’t very fashionable to pay much attention to 300Cs these days, but this example did catch my eye. …

err…. Hmmm….

I last saw this Mustang trying to qualify at the New Jersey Formula Drift event earlier this year.

It did look pretty nice, glinting in the sunlight…

I think you can tell I have an eye for traditional customs and rods no? Or perhaps I have more to say about these cars.
This was a great example of a 1950 Mercury lead sled.

I like the effect of the glossy flames offset against the satin black paint.

Perfection…

For me, this is a dream car.

The next car in the line-up was this Rat Rod, which Antonio highlighted this morning. I’ll be looking at this car in more detail in a later post…

This is the start of a new trend? WTCC-style perhaps? Looks like a street legal race car to me.

Looming in one of the entrance halls was this crazy looking offroader. Although this is outside of the Speedhunters viewpoint, it is worth mentioning that the whole off road aftermarket scene is quite heavily represented at SEMA. Normally I don’t pay much attention to these types of cars, but I couldn’t help but notice this mad machine.
BTW I’m flying back to Vancouver tomorrow, but I’ll try and squeeze in one more pass of photos from the show floor before I head out to the airport.
Best,
