Hyundai and Rhys Millen Racing announced their new Formula Drift Hyundai Genesis Coupe at the Chicago Auto Show, earlier today.

Speedhunters will recognise the wide body kit from the ‘Art of Speed’ Hyundai Genesis shown at SEMA last year.

The car has been designed and built by Rhys Millen Racing, and will compete in Formula Drift, selected Redline Time Attach events and even Pikes Peak!

Millen has already tested the car at Road Atlanta recently.

Powered by a 550bhp 4.1 Litre V6 Turbo charged unit and clothed in Carbon Fibre bodywork, the team are aiming for a curb weight of 2400lbs. A good example of weight reduction is the drivers door. The standard component is 68lbs, by RMR’s composite version is just 8.5lbs!

The car also features RMR eight point roll cage, APR GTC-500 rear wing, Sparco racing seat, KW Suspension, Enkei and rides on Toyo Tires.
Great looking car and its nice to see some of the carbon fibre left exposed with the livery design. The Formula Drift season starts on April 10th at Long Beach, California.
