Toyota has always been known as one of Japan's most conservative automakers, especially in the past several years. However, at some point during the early 2000's the green light was given to produce  the limited-run TRD Toyota Comfort GT-Z, powered by a supercharged 3S-FE engine. It only made about 160hp, but it was a big step up from the normal Comfort, which is mostly  used in Japan as a taxi cab. With just 59 Comfort GT-Z's produced, it has to be one of the rarest Japanese performance cars ever made. In a way I suppose it's like a Japanese version of the Chevy Impala SS or Mercury Marauder, both of which where built from popular taxi cab platforms…
