We don’t tend to focus very much on youtube crash videos here on Speedhunters, but I thought this one would be of interest to you, as we get ready for our Bonneville Speedhunting trip. It depicts the Racing Beat team’s ill-fated 1992 attempt at the C/Blown Modified Sports record of 241 mph with their 760 horsepower turbocharged three Rotor FD RX7.
The team returned to The Salt with a repaired car in 1995 and set a new record of 242 mph, making it the world’s fastest RX7. It’s a record that the team still holds today. Antonio featured this car during our Mazda month earlier in the year if you want more info about it.
