Hey, I thought November was supposed to be the off-season for car events? With SEMA, the VIP Festival, and Wednesday's Super Lap Battle, it's been a busy week of Speedhunting for me – and it's not over yet. Later this afternoon I'll be hitting the road towards NorCal for tomorrow's Hella Flush meet in Milpitas. Before I leave, I thought I'd post some more Buttonwillow Super Lap coverage for you guys.

It's always to fun watch race cars evolve over the years, as is the case with the Hasport EG Civic. As I mentioned yesterday, the car was in a tight battle all day long with the 5Zigen Accord. Hasport would end up taking second in the Unlimited FF class with a 1:53.002 lap time.

While Katsuyuki Hiranaka and the 5Zigen Team would end up finishing third with a 1:53.422 lap.

And the fastest in Unlimited FF class? Chris Rado and the World Racing Scion of course. Chris actually broke the front-drive lap record set by GM in 2005 with a blazing 1:49.703. Wild stuff.

The Evasive Motorsports Evo cooling off in the paddock after the morning track session. At the end of the day the Limited AWD class Evo would turn in a 1:49.977 lap time.

Although very quick for the Limited class, Evasive's time wasn't quite fast enough to beat Ryan Gates in his Evo X. The blue Evo took the top Limited class spot with a 1:49.805.

The Brian Crower/C-West S2000 was only able to turn in a lap or two before mechanical failure put the car on the trailer early.

Luckily Tyler McQuarrie wasn't out of a job for the day, as he also handled driving duties for the Tein/Import Tuner 370Z in the Street FR Class. For a Street Class machine, this Z had a very loud, very aggressive exhaust note to it.

GT Channel entered this Z33 Roadster with drifter Dai Yoshihara behind the wheel.

This is the first convertible Z time attack car I've seen. Very cool, though I wonder if the less rigid chassis is an issue?

I didn't see it happen as I was shooting on the other side of the track at the time, but the AMS/NOS Energy Drink Evo suffered a pretty nasty fire in the afternoon session.

Flames and smoke aside, the car was able to record a 1:46.829 lap time, good for third place in the Unlimited AWD class.

More flames, this time coming from the exhaust pipe of the Bergenholtz RX8. The drift car moonlighting as a time attack car was able to run a 1:59.776 in the Unlimited FR class.

Being the geek I am, I also found myself snapping photos of random cool cars I found around the paddock – like this Toyota Yaris in the Evasive pit…

…and this MK4 VW Golf on BBS LM's.

And finally, this La Carrera Pan Americana Ford race car parked outside of the Buttonwillow race shops. Awesome!

Back on the track, Tarzan Yamada drove the Crawford Impreza to a second place finish in Unlimited AWD with a very fast 1:45.552 lap time.

The Robispec Z34 at speed through the esses on the west side of the track. The car turned in a 2:00.585 lap running in the Street FR class.

The Limited AWD class LIC Impreza approaching Buttonwillow's famous "Off Ramp" corner.

And finally, the Sparco Evo X running in the Street AWD Class.

I've got more from Buttonwillow on the way, but now it's time to throw my bags in the Mazda MX-5 and get ready for the NorCal trip!
