I bet Dino Dalle Carbonare must have bought a big case of Red Bull to help him get through this week. You see, he’s about to do something a bit crazy for the next five days: Dino’s going to visit the Daikoku parking area on the outskirts of Tokyo each night from March 1st to March 5th. This fervor of activity will also see daily posts from the previous night’s shoot.
Why is he going to all this trouble? Well to help us celebrate Skyline week of course!

Today is March 1st (3-1 get it?) so we’re hoping there’s been a good turnout of early Skyline models at Daikoku. If any of you lot have sent in photos of your early Skylines (up to R31 chassis types) we’ll also run them today.

Tomorrow, March 2nd will be devoted to R32 models. Dino shot this wide-body machine last August, and if we’re lucky, it will be on-site with many other R32s tomorrow.

We’re also planning out some Skyline specific car features this week.

Dino once declared to me that he could “single handedly do a full Skyline month” of features on the site so we’re expecting some top quality Skyline features from him this week.

I also recently shot a rather well known R33 last week while on a quick business trip to the UK.

Watch out for the full feature on March 3rd.

This day will be headed up by Dino’s shoots, as well as Reader’s Rides from around the world. We assume some of you guys own these machines and have sent in your photos.

For March 5th we’ll turn our attention to the R35 and any G35-G37s reader’s rides that have been sent our way.

BTW You’ll be seeing a fair amount of the Sumo Power R35 this year on Speedhunters as we’ll be covering every single round of the new FIA GT1 World Championship.

BTW if you want to see these amazing cars yourself and live in the UK then do head over to the Sumo Power Open Day on March 6th.

I’m told the UK car clubs will be out in force at this event and some very special dignitaries will be flying in from Japan to check out this amazing 50,000 square foot facility. It’s that and you can meet Speedhunter Jonathan Moore too!

Speaking of shops, I just did a shoot with UK Skyline specialists TR Racing.

The place is full of all sorts of madhatter Skylines monsters…
… Including some rather famous historical machines. I’m sure a lot of you will recognize this car.

And this brings us to another theme we’ll be running this month: Builds and Previews.

We’ve been busy visiting shops around the world to see what projects they’ve got in the mix as the racing season gets ready to back up again. Check out the snap from Mike Garrett’s recent visit to Evasive Motorsport.

Those of you who were with us last year, may remember Speedhunters were the first to show the crazy Fwing concept that Chris Rado unleashed onto the US Time Attack scene in 2009. This year, he’ll be debuting his new unlimited class AWD Scion tC car, and we’ll be able to bring you a sneak peak of this insane machine in a couple weeks.

Almost a year ago, i also got to show you the madness that the Twins Turbo crew were up to.

Remember their Standing Mile Viper project?

Well this is how it looked as of a few days ago. The car is in its final stages of assembly to hit up the first ever Standing Mile event on the West Coast of North America. And we’ll be there with our cameras not only to document the build, but also showcase the car at this event: the Mojave Mile.

That same weekend, Mike Garrett will be at Famosa Raceway to shoot the March Meet.

This is the kick off for the 2010 Nostalgic Drag Racing season… I can’t wait to see what Mike comes up with, especially given that he just got himself a new camera.

The following weekend will be the start of the new national Pro Am championship the XDC @ Irwindale Speedway.

Ahh yes… more street style drifting goodness.

If cars going sideways isn’t your thing, then we’ll also have two Speedhunters on duty at the 12 hours of Sebring later this month.

John Brooks will be on hand to document what will likely be a Peugeot walk-over.

He’ll be joined by Linhbergh who’ll be imbedded with Team Falken as they get their first full season of ALMS competition under way.

Factory BMW racer Tommy Milner will also be working with us at Sebring and throughout the 2010 racing season. We’re excited to announce he’ll be contributing a Driver Blog for us this year.

And if this isn’t enough, we’re also proud to tell you we have a new Speedhunter joining the team to bring us on-the-ground coverage from each round of Super GT in 2010. Please welcome Len Clarke to the fold.

Len will be kicking off his Speedhunting career with coverage of the opening round of Super GT at the end of the month. Should be cool!
Are you about ready to pass out with joy? I sure am!

That same weekend will see the D1GP 2010 season kick off with a new opening round at Odaiba.

Wow I’m about ready to crawl inside my laptop just with anticipation.

Mike Garrett will also be on duty that weekend for the opening round of the US based Redline Time Attack series.

We’ll have many other features, announcements and surprises along the way too, but you’ll just need to stay tuned to find out… Now let the Skyline festivities begin!
BTW if you still want to send us photos of your Skyline, GT-R or G35/G37 please read the instructions here.
