I know Photography Month has come and gone but I just couldn't not share these images by Andrew Thompson. The car is infact the photographer's own Lotus Exige. Andrew sent me a superb collection of images but for me, these abstract and silhouette shots are just fantastic. Without fully showing you the car, you can still appreciate it's shape and essence.

It's a relatively standard example of a great car.

This is the 2006 model, which weighs in at 2,000lbs (907KGs) and with 190BHP from the 1.8L I4 engine these cars can certainly move. Andrew is currently toying with the idea of supercharging the car which will transform the car into quite the potent trackday car.

I love the super clean processing on this shot and how the parking lines work to draw your eye into the image.

Again, another great examply of using road markings to add to the image. More often than not when people photograph their cars in parking lots, the lines take away from the image. Getting it just right with this sort of background is quite a challenge.

By exposing for the highlights, Andrew has created these great silhouette and semi-silhouette images which emphasize the shape of the car.

To capture the rain in this last shot, Andrew would of shot with a wide aperture (small f/number) to obtain a faster shutter speed to capture the rain drops and a shallower depth of field to blur the background.

All in all, a solid set of images. You can check out Andrew's Flickr at the link below …
