The Essen Motorshow is fast approaching and this year it is going to be a bit different than previous years. I’ve already seen some stuff they have in store for us this year, so I’m real anxious to attend the show at the end of November. One of the cars that will be present is this VW.

The basis is a VW pick-up truck from 1965 which Wayne Allman from the British county of Warwickshire has converted into a dragster. Of the original truck, only the driver’s cabin has been retained. The engine is an 8.4-litre Keith Black Hemi unit which has been supercharged and makes around 1,700 bhp on methanol.

Wayne says of the car that “I have always loved installing powerful engines in the wrong cars.” The entrance to the dragster is through the roof hatch although the original doors can still be opened but only so that the mechanics can fasten the driver’s belt.
