Despite the lack of sleep and exhaustion from driving down to Nagoya early this morning there was no way I was going to hit the sack tonight without posting up at least a short preview post from the first day of the Exciting Car Showdown. If you have been following Speedhunters over the last few years you will know just how much I enjoy covering this show, as there is pretty much nothing like it out there. The array of tuned cars under the Nagoya Port Messe dome today was simply mouthwatering, from Kazama Auto's new S15 D1 car that Tanaka will drive this year…

…to some slammed goodness we all know the guys down South like to indulge in.

It's always cool to see how styles and trends vary, or how they can mix to create some spectacular rides like this 800 HP 2JZ-powered UCF11 Celsior from 460 Power, where VIP meets drift with a little bit of Time Attack sprinkled on top with those Enkei NT03s!

Did Origin go a little too far with the negative camber on this S15? Certainly grabbed a lot of attention!

There was just the right amount of bosozoku influences in this GX71 Cresta. Loved the 14-inch Speed Star MKIIIs…

…but especially the 1.5G-GEU on velocity stacks under the hood,

You guys remember Itakura's H.D.O. RA28 Celica GT we saw at some D1 rounds in 2010? Well, like many pro drift cars this year it's gone through a color change going from white and blue to a cool matte black base and all new livery. Power is still courtesy of the SR20DET conversion.

And on the subject of conversion, this C&Y Sports Z32 was drool-worthy…

…running a 700 HP 3.1L 2JZ swap.

Great to see a few more imports show up this year like this Tuning Garage Gluck Porsche 930 that participates in the Meister Cup.

Eau Rouge certainly know how to prepare stunning show cars and this JZZ30 Soarer has to be one of their best creations.

The street-scraping stance has been achieved by running air suspension and rather large 20-inch Work Gnosis HS201 wheels front and rear.

1300 HP drag-spec BNR34 from Friends.

One Amemiya-sans best creations.

Slammed S14 from 326 Power.

This is only a very small selection of what was on display today, and I just barely managed to cover half of the floor space. We'll get into more detail from the next post so stay tuned for more from Nagoya soon!
