As each year passes it seems the world is populated by more and more truly mind-blowing car builds. Now I’m not positive if it’s the vehicles themselves that keep getting better, or if it’s simply the the growth of the internet allowing us to uncover them so easily. Whatever the case. it’s great fun to stay tuned in to the constant stream of inspiring machines emerging around the world.
That brings me to this 1960 Ford F100 Pickup that’s currently listed on Ebay.
This truck was built by an outfit called 2 Brothers Custom Trucks out of Springfield, Illinois. The ad states that the truck was built for last year’s SEMA Show, but for some reason I don’t recall seeing it in Vegas last year. Perhaps it was shoved in a corner somewhere and I missed it during my walk-through? If I had seen it at SEMA I know I would have shared it because it’s quite a rig.
While there has been a good amount of custom work done to the body, great care has been taken to make the truck appear original. The preservation of the two tone white and teal paint work is a particularity cool touch.
Beneath the skin though, the truck has been massively altered. For starters it sits on a custom built frame with a three inch body drop. In this shot you can also see the custom wheel tubs in the bed.
The truck sits mean and low thanks to a Ride Tech air ride kit. You can also catch a glimpse of the Wilwood brake kit with 14″ rotors in the front an 12″ rotors in the rear.
Looking beneath the spotless chassis we get a view of the narrowed Ford nine inch rear end, which houses a set of 3.55 gears.
While the truck has been extensively modified, I quite like the effort to preserve certain original elements of the ’60 F100. Nowhere is this more evident than in the engine bay. While one of Ford’s potent DOHC Coyote V8s could have easily been swapped in, the truck is running a 320 cubic inch Y-block V8 built by H&H Flatheads.
Of course this Y-block also happens to have a pair of Turbonetics GTK turbos which push air through the Holley dual quad throttle body injection intake.
The pair of air inlets built into the original headlight openings are another cool, subtle touch.
The Y-block is mated to a Tremec Magnum T56 6-speed manual transmission.
Check the Stack cluster peeking out there from behind the billet steering wheel. Legit.
The custom-built wheels measure 24″x9 in the front and 24″x15 in the rear. The original Ford hub caps have been preserved for a another ’60s throwback. The wheels may not be for everyone, but I have to say this may be the first vehicle on 24s that I can actually get behind.
Yep, just one more fish in the ever-growing sea of amazing builds out there.
