There is no shortage of good automotive-related films on the internet, but every now and then something truly great comes along. No Limits: Impossible Is Just A Word, a new documentary from Stereoscreen, falls squarely into that category.
If the name Stereoscreen sounds familiar, it’s for good reason – the German film production company’s 2014 release Adrenalin: The BMW Touring Car Story was simply epic. There’s a connection between that film and No Limits too, but while Adrenalin charted BMW’s rise through touring car racing’s history books, the new film’s focus is on recent events – specifically Alex Zanardi’s road to the gruelling 24 Hours of Spa Francorchamps alongside BMW teammates Bruno Spengler and Timo Glock.
Zanardi’s story is an inspiring one. Despite losing his legs and very nearly his life in an accident at the Lausitzring in Germany back in 2001, the now 49-year-old’s zest for life and appetite for pushing himself to the absolute limit has seen him go on to win World Touring Car Championship races and Paralympics gold medals, and compete in Iron Man events. Being part of a factory-backed challenge for a high-profile motorsport endurance race like the Spa 24 Hours required months of planning and preparation, and this powerful 60-minute documentary does a superb job of retelling that story through beautiful 4K Ultra HD film work and an equally impressive edit.
