There are few thrills in life greater than the random and unexpected appearance of a car that drops your jaw.

We spent a couple of days working on Project GTI last week, and as we approached the finish line I set about my usual routine of taking a few photographs of the car as it was coming together. I was setting up for a shot just away from the car when to my left a white Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V pulled up outside the open workshop door. The sun was setting outside, the light was low and hard which really defined the lines of the iconic Evo. The white-on-white colour scheme, accented with carbon detailing and the aggressive front aero made an immediate impact. So much so, that I walked out to look at the car and forgot to shoot my own.

Up close, the purpose of this Evo is obvious. It’s an RS model which has been further stripped and now hosts two Kevlar-backed Bride seats with Takata harnesses. There’s a plethora of bracing throughout the inside of the car and the boot; but it’s not a track-only car, just heavily track focused. It’s also incredibly clean both inside and out. “Bring it for a spin,” I was told. There wasn’t much convincing required. After a quick drive, the sun had already set but my whole world had been quickly recalibrated. I need more of this. I need more of it right now.

I think a feature is in order?
