Another new week of Speedhunting is about to begin, but before we get into that it’s time to take a quick look at some of our favorite videos from the past seven days.
Let’s kick things off with a new clip from Toyo Tires…
Ken Block’s all-wheel drive V8 ‘Hoonicorn’ Mustang RTR brought a new level of awesome to the Gymkhana video series back in 2014, and since then we’ve been waiting patiently for its return to the franchise. Well, it’s now officially set to happen in 2017 at Pikes Peak, and if this ‘Climbkhana’ trailer – featuring the recently revealed Hoonicorn V2 – is anything to go by, it’s going to be awesome.
EKanoo Racing’s quest for sport compact drag racing superiority across a number of classes knows no bounds; the Bahrain team is continuously pushing boundaries in the search for lower ETs and higher trap speeds. More recently, Ebrahim Kanoo shipped his 2JZ-powered Toyota 86 to the USA to compete in a couple of PDRA events against some of the quickest Pro Mod cars on the planet. Another four 5-second passes were achieved for the world’s quickest sport compact machine, and in this short film titled Quest For Greatness, you can go behind the scenes of the stateside adventure.
The Tilton Interiors Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX will go down in time attack history books as one of the all-time greats. The three-time Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge winner raised the bar considerably during its time at the top, and although it’s now retired from Pro Class competition, it still generated a huge amount of interest at this year’s event. This excellent short film from MotiveDVD gives insight into where the car came from, its official farewell, and what the Tilton team has in store for it next.
Finally this week, it’s a quick look at a new release from Red Bull TV on the all-important pit stop – from the era when they took minutes to complete, right through to modern-day F1 where less than 2 seconds is the benchmark.
