With a new week of Speedhunting ready to kick off, it’s time to take a quick look at some of our favorite videos from the past week.
Let’s kick things off with a new clip from Petrolicious, featuring a French rally icon…
Generating 285hp from its mid-mounted turbo 1.4L pushrod engine and weighing just 900kg, the rear-wheel drive Renault 5 Turbo 2 was a formidable little rally performer in the early-to-mid ’80s. With a limited number of homologation road cars produced at the time – many of which were subsequently turned into gravel bashers themselves – pristine examples are few and far between more than 30 years after the fact. But ‘pristine’ is exactly what Christophe Guerin’s 1984 example is.
Next up, it’s a new clip showcasing the 2016 ‘Bandit Edition’ Trans Am being built by Trans Am Depot. Of course, the Bandit name is being borrowed from the iconic Trans Am film Smokey and the Bandit, and with that comes Burt Reynolds. Just 77 black and gold cars will be built, each packing an LSx 454 engine good for 840hp, t-tops and retro-style ‘snowflake’ wheels.
How does Nismo piece together a GT3-spec GT-R? This time-lapse video, which takes a bare chassis to race-ready completion in less than three minutes will give you a pretty good idea.
